How does QR code ordering work?
QR code ordering works in 5 steps: (1) You generate unique QR codes for each table in the ordd.io dashboard, or generate a generic one for walk-up orders. (2) Customers scan the QR code with their phone camera—no app needed. (3) Your digital menu opens in their browser where they can browse and add items. (4) Customers pay directly from their phone using credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. (5) The order appears on your kitchen display and customers get an SMS when it's ready.
Do customers need to download an app?
No. Customers do not need to download any app. When they scan your QR code with their phone camera, your menu opens directly in their web browser. There's no account creation required either—customers can start ordering immediately.
Does ordd.io work with my existing POS system?
Ordd.io works alongside your existing systems. It can operate completely standalone, or integrate via API with your current POS. You don't need to replace your existing POS to use ordd.io—it adds QR ordering capability on top of whatever you already have.

How much does ordd.io cost?
Ordd.io costs $249 per month with no commission on orders. Payment processing through Stripe is 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. Is ordd.io really commission-free?

Can I use my own payment processor?
Yes. You can use Stripe (included and recommended) or bring your own payment processor. If you use your own processor, there are no additional ordd.io fees beyond the $249/month subscription.

How long does setup take?
Self-service setup takes about 20 minutes. With white-glove setup (included free), you send us your menu in any format, we digitize it within 24 hours, and you're live within 3-5 days. A dedicated onboarding specialist will be on-call during your first service.
Do I need to buy special hardware?
No. Ordd.io works on any smartphone, tablet, or computer with a web browser. You can use devices you already own. Unlike Toast or Square, there's no proprietary hardware purchase required.
How do I create QR codes for my tables?
QR codes are generated automatically in the ordd.io dashboard. You can create unique codes for each table, booth, bar seat, or service area. Download them to print yourself, or order professional QR code table cards through our partners.

What payment methods does ordd.io support?
Customers can pay with credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. All major card networks are supported (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover). Payments process through Stripe or your own payment processor.
How do orders get to the kitchen?
Orders appear instantly on the kitchen display system (KDS) or any screen you designate. Staff can view orders, see item details and modifiers, mark items as in-progress, and complete orders. You can set up multiple display stations for different prep areas (grill, bar, expeditor, etc.).
Can I update my menu in real-time?
Yes. Any changes you make in the dashboard appear immediately on customer phones. Add new items, change prices, update descriptions, mark items as sold out—all changes are instant. No waiting for updates to propagate.
Does ordd.io work for bars specifically?
Yes. Ordd.io has bar-specific features including bartender order screens, location-based filtering (e.g., 'Patio Bar' vs 'Main Bar' vs 'Pool Bar'), drink modifiers, and tab management. Customers can order another round without flagging down a bartender.
Can I have different menus for different times?
Yes. You can schedule different menus and pricing for different times. Set up happy hour pricing that activates automatically, weekend brunch menus, late-night menus, or any time-based variation. Changes happen automatically—no manual switching required.
How does ordd.io handle item modifiers?
You can add any modifiers to menu items—temperature (rare, medium, well-done), add-ons (extra cheese, bacon +$2), removals (no onions), sizes, and more. Customers see all options on their phone and select what they want. Modifiers appear clearly on kitchen tickets.
Does ordd.io handle tips?
Yes. Customers can add a tip during the checkout process. You can configure suggested tip amounts (e.g., 18%, 20%, 25%) or let customers enter a custom amount. Tips are processed with the order and included in your payout.

Can I see a demo?

What happens if my internet goes down?
If your internet goes down, customers won't be able to place new QR orders. However, any orders already placed will be saved and will appear once connectivity is restored. We recommend having a backup ordering method (traditional service) for rare connectivity issues.
Can customers split the bill?
Currently, each customer pays for their own items at the time of ordering. This actually simplifies the payment process—no splitting checks at the end of the meal. Each person orders and pays from their own phone.
